Our Special Senior Paws have weathered difficult storms — abandonment, loss, abuse and/or illness — yet their hearts remain wide open, ready to love again.

When you foster or adopt, you become an important bridge between their past and their golden years…and their end of life.

You become a purposeful instrument that turns their fears and trauma into trust, and their loneliness into belonging, and giving them the one thing money can’t buy — your time and presence wrapped in love.

And in return, their tender love and trust in you, changes your heart forever--in the most beautiful, meaningful of ways.

We provide food, supplies, medical care, and full support — you provide safety, companionship, and the gentle rhythm of daily life that helps a Senior Paw’s wellbeing.

Foster & Adoption Process

How to Foster or Adopt Through BR PAWS Dog Haven

We want every match to be a story of mutual love, comfort, and harmony.

Here’s how we make sure our Senior Paws — and you — find the best fit together.

FOSTER PROCESS

1. Submit an online Foster Interest/Application Form (link below)

 Or download the PDF version and email it back to us. (link below)

2. Connection Call. Within 3-5 business days, the Chief of Paws & Founder, will contact you to discuss your interest, preferences, and any questions you have. 

3. Meet Your Foster Senior Paw

We’ll arrange a meet-and-greet at the sanctuary or in your home to ensure everyone feels comfortable. If the meet-and-greet goes well, we’ll coordinate your Senior Paw’s move-in date, unless the same-day works for you both.

4. We Provide the Essentials

Food, medical care, supplies, and ongoing support — all provided by BR PAWS. You simply supply the love.

5. Enjoy the Journey (what is the minimum time for foster care?)

Whether for two weeks or two months, your care helps each dog heal, grow confident, and prepare for their forever home.

ADOPTION PROCESS

1. Submit the online Adoption Interest/Application (click here)

This form is to introduce yourself and share what kind of companion you’re hoping for.

2. Connection Call. Within 3-5 business days, the Chief of Paws & Founder, will contact you to discuss your interest, preferences, and any questions you have. 

3. Meet Your Match

We’ll schedule a visit to meet your Senior Paw (or Paws) that we believe will best fit your heart and home.

4. Home & Heart Check

Our team ensures your environment is safe and supportive for the special needs for each Senior Paw. (Do we have a period of time first before adoption?)

5. Adoption Day

This is when all parties sign the adoption agreement. You will also receive your new companion’s medical history, and celebrate the beginning of your shared journey. (Include a clause that if it is not working out, they return the Senior Paw to us, or ?/)

6. Continued Support

We’re always here — offering resources, check-ins, and community for all our BR PAWS families.
